Terms of Use
Last updated April 3, 2026
Welcome to MealHuddle. By accessing or using MealHuddle ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using MealHuddle, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to all users of the Service, including household owners and members.
2. Account & Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create a MealHuddle account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials (email, password, and temporary QR login codes). You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date.
Household members (such as children) may be added to a household by the account holder. Household members do not have their own login credentials and are managed entirely by the household owner or admin.
3. Household Data
MealHuddle is built around shared households. When you create or join a household, all members of that household can view and interact with the household's data, including:
- Recipes and pantry items
- Meal plans and meal cycles
- Grocery lists and items
- Household member profiles
By adding content to a household, you understand that other household members will have access to that content. Household owners and admins can manage membership and remove members at any time.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use smart features to generate harmful, illegal, abusive, or misleading content.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or subscription restrictions.
- Scrape, crawl, or programmatically extract data from the Service (except through our documented Home Assistant integration API).
- Use the Service to infringe on any third party's intellectual property rights.
- Share your account credentials, QR login codes, or API keys with unauthorized parties.
- Submit spam, abusive, or misleading content through the Community Hub (bug reports, feature requests, or votes).
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
5. Smart Features & AI-Generated Content
MealHuddle offers smart features including recipe import (from photos, PDFs, and URLs), receipt scanning, recipe generation, and other AI-powered tools. These features are powered by third-party AI services.
- AI-generated content (including recipe data and images) is provided for convenience and may not be fully accurate. You should review all AI-generated content before relying on it.
- MealHuddle is not liable for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in AI-generated content, including nutritional information, ingredient lists, or food safety guidance.
- We reserve the right to review and remove AI-generated content that violates these Terms or our content policies.
6. Subscriptions & Billing
MealHuddle offers the following plans:
- Free — core meal planning, grocery lists, recipes, and collaboration features at no cost.
- Pro ($4.99/month or $47.88/year per household) — all Free features plus Chef Mode, recipe generation, receipt scanning, and other smart tools.
New users may be eligible for a 14-day free trial of the Pro plan. No credit card is required for the trial. Each household may use the trial once. Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through a third-party payment provider. The household owner or admin is responsible for payment.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial billing periods.
7. Your Content & License
You retain ownership of all content you upload, create, or submit to MealHuddle, including recipes, pantry items, meal plans, photos, images, community submissions (bug reports, feature requests), and any other materials ("Your Content").
By uploading or submitting Your Content to the Service, you grant MealHuddle a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce, modify, resize, analyze, and create derivative works of Your Content solely as necessary to operate and provide the Service. This includes processing Your Content through third-party services for features like recipe import, receipt scanning, and recipe generation. This license continues for as long as Your Content remains on the Service and ends when you delete it, except where Your Content has been shared with other household members.
8. Content Representations
By uploading or submitting content to MealHuddle, you represent and warrant that:
- You own or have all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions to use and share that content.
- Your content does not infringe, misappropriate, or violate any third party's intellectual property rights, privacy rights, or other legal rights.
- You have the right to grant the license described in Section 7 above.
MealHuddle does not verify the ownership or legality of user-uploaded content. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any content you upload complies with applicable laws.
9. Intellectual Property
MealHuddle retains all rights to the platform, its design, branding, and underlying technology. AI-generated images created through the Service are licensed to you for personal use within MealHuddle.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless MealHuddle, its operators, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your Content or any content you upload, submit, or share through the Service.

You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Household data shared with other members may persist for those members.
